Germany had been devastated from WWII, so West Germany set out to rebuild the economy through very rapid reconstruction. They experienced what is known as Wirtschaftswunder or “economic miracle” throughout the 1950s. From the late 1950s on, West Germany had one of the world’s strongest economies. The East German economy also showed some strong growth, but not as much as in West Germany.
A large contributor to the success of this huge economic upswing came from increased production and manufacturing of goods such as costume jewellery. However, the materials they used in making jewellery in West Germany had to be inexpensive due to its struggling economy.
They became known for their plastic bead sets, beaded tiered bib-style necklaces and crystal beaded cluster earrings, brooches and bracelets. They also produced striking jewellery made of glass, imitating precious gemstones.

Unless the item is listed as a 'new' item, evidence of normal age/use should be expected. The photos on our listings are never stock photos as we take all of our own photos, so what you see is what you get. Please look over your desired item closely before purchasing.
Now, we mostly sell vintage jewellery and "new old stock" that has never been worn, that come out of various estates. This means that it has been pre-owned. That means that it could have some light wear, and possibly some tarnish. IF there are any flaws, such as missing stones, or damaged stones, we will definitely make that clear in the listing description. We just need our customers to understand that we generally do not sell brand new items.
Our shop has a good working knowledge of vintage jewellery, as most of what we sell has been pre-owned and will thus have some form of wear. Please use common sense when bidding. We cannot possibly cover every detail in a listing, and will thus describe the listings as best as we can. For example, shades of blue are subjective and so are concepts of what looks "too good" to be vintage, or what is "too worn" to be acceptable to a collector, as everyone has their own tastes.
If you have specific needs, do your part, and contact me.
We do not normally clean many of our vintage items as most antique jewellery collectors and enthusiasts prefer that they are kept with the integrity of the piece and patina that occurs naturally over time. This particular piece was gently cleaned with a soft cloth. No harsh chemicals were used to clean this piece.
